The Adaven Empire is unified group of nations under the rule of the Adavene, a ruthless tribe of warriors who had conquered the lands many generations ago.

The empire is made up of four regions with three autonomous nations. The central region, known only as The Vastness holds the Tower Fortress of the Adavene and acts as the capital. The swamp lands of Hasolere are to the east, the Labuga'al mountains to the north, and the rocky coasts of Raken to the west.

Physical and Historical Features[]

The Adaven Empire encapsulates the entirety of the continent. Whether or not there are lands beyond the empire are a complete mystery.

At the center of the continent is The Vastness, a great, arid desert that takes up about half of the entire continent. The most inhospitable of all the regions, the only peoples to make their home in The Vastness are the mighty Adavene and the distantly related tribes of the Anozir. At the very center of the desert is a large solitary mountain turned fortress, where the Adavene reside. The Fortress is said to be the highest point in all of the empire.

To the East, the desert turns to marshlands as you approach the nation of Hasolere. Inhabited by the Hasoleri, the nation of Hasolere has been built deep into the swamp lands which go deeper and deeper the further away from The Vastness you travel. A very secluded people, Hasolere was the last nation to be annexed into the Empire, though they gave up their sovereignty willingly.

To the West, the fields and flat lands are the first thing you see of the nation of Raken. However, most of the nation's infrastructure and population can be found along the rocky and winding coasts and cliffs. Raken is home to two different ethnic groups, the Rakks and the Saults and are known as a fiery, seafaring people. Raken was the first Nation to wage war against the Adavene.

To the North, the climate becomes colder as you approach the Mountains of Labuga'al. Labuga'al is made entirely of mountain ranges and alps, their kingdom being built high up in the mountains. The frozen tundras continue northward, but become too inhospitable at a point that no settlers have seen the end of it.

Scattered small towns and settlements can be found outside borders of each nation. Inhabitants of these areas are called Nolanders, and live simpler lives.

Travel between any two regions took around week on horseback.

Fauna[]

A variety of animals could be found in each of the different landscapes. Horses remained a staple means of transportation, and many people also kept livestock and other domesticated animals.

Wildlife in each area was fairly standard, with the exception of wyrms and antlions. Antlions were insect-like beasts inhabiting the Vastness. Wyrms could be subdivided into two types of dragons and two types of leviathans, each of which could be found in the different climates across the island.

Dragons were reptilian and flighted, ranging in size from that of a dog, to slightly larger than a horse. The larger variety roamed wild, while the smaller could be kept domestically.

Leviathans were very large, serpentine creatures primarily found in either the seas or swamps. Not many dared to venture out across the water, and the terrible reputation of the beasts protected the inhabitants of the island.

Social Organization[]

Adaven was ruled by a tribe for generations, and none thought to question their authority. Due to their desire for protection (or perhaps from a jealous guarding of their power and secrets) the royal family usually remained within their tower fortress. Regardless of their distance, the outer regions would regularly send goods and manpower as tributes to their capital.

Though the three regions served the Adavene, each was governed by their own Great House. Each area had its own form of administration or social government, which differed depending on the region.

The royal family was advised by a council made up of members of the three noble families.

Since the subjugation of the outlying regions by the Adavene, the four existed in relative peace.
